Penned by the author of the DM's guide, "The book of Eldritch Might" is a compilation of arcane spells, prestige classes, magic items and feats for arcane spell casters.

The first section describes new feats and most notably the Eldritch feats. Eldrtitch feats are only available to spellcasters of at least 5th level, sometimes 7th. Most also have prerequisites of high ability scores. They can replace metamagic or item creation bonus feats. Most Eldtrich feats are Lace feats that add elemental energy to a spell's damage (in the gist of Energy Admixture from other publications), add a Bane effect to a spell or add the Holy, Unholy, Lawful or Chaotic particularity to a spell.

Three new prestige classes grace the pages of this little book.

Having nearly died from fire damage, the Embermage has fire in his being and can hurt others by burning them with his blood or with special fire-related powers. The Graven One inscribes magical tattoos on his or her skin. These tattoos can be used to cast spells as if from scrolls, to store magic items or to gain magical enhancements and abilities. Since they are not permanent, a Graven One can add new tattoos and change the tattoos on his or her skin. The Mirror Master can sense or travel through mirrors. At every other level, the Mirror Master gains bonus spells, most of which are new spells that deal with mirrors. If they are spells from the PHB, they have the particularity that the target of the spell must be viewed through a mirror.

The new spells are the real treat of this book. We get quite a few new evocation battle spells, some spells that will transform the way you look at teleportation, the new mirror-oriented spells that are not limited to the Mirror Master prestige class and a lot of spells that are a logical continuation of what is found in the player's handbook, such as Greater Sleep and Mass Fly.

The chapter on magic items include a supplemental random table of magic potions that a DM can roll on when generating treasure. The author gives examples of other potions that can be made out of the spells from the PHB or any other source for that mater. Think of such potions as a Potion of Expeditious Retreat or an Oil of Gentle Repose. A panoply of new magic items fill up this chapter; Magic Weapons, Potions, Rings, Rods and Staves, Wondrous Items, Magical Vehicles, Magic Poisons and some Artifacts.

The Last chapter deals with a new template, Magical Constructs. This template can use any creature not of the shapechanger, elemental or ooze type as the "base creature" and make a kind of golem out of them. The creation of such creatures involves expensive rituals reminiscent of those needed to build golems. Magical Constructs can be made out of metal or stone. The cost of creating a Magical Construct is relative to its HD. The sample Magical Constructs in the book are a Stone Dire Tiger and an Eleven Headed Brass Hydra.

Any DM and anybody playing an arcane spellcaster will greatly appreciate this excellent book.
